Wheeling Watersports was created with a simple goal: make it easier for people to enjoy our local waterways.
Located along the Ohio River in Wheeling, West Virginia, we saw an opportunity to give residents and visitors a convenient way to experience the water without having to own, transport, or store their own equipment.
But we also realized there was a problem with the traditional rental model. Renting a kayak shouldn't require coordinating with rental-counter hours, waiting for someone to meet you, or planning your entire day around when a rental business is open.
So we decided to try something different.
PaddlePort is our self-service kayak rental system designed to make getting on the water simple and convenient.
Customers can reserve online, access their kayak and equipment at the PaddlePort, enjoy their time on the water, and return everything when they're finished—all without a traditional rental counter.
Our first PaddlePort launched at Wheeling Island Marina, giving us the opportunity to introduce the concept right here in our hometown.
We're proud to have started PaddlePort in Wheeling, but our vision extends beyond one location.
Our goal is to bring convenient, self-service access to kayaking to more communities and waterways by partnering with marinas, parks, campgrounds and other waterfront destinations.
Whether you're a local looking for something different to do or a visitor experiencing our waterways for the first time, we hope PaddlePort makes it easier to get outside, get on the water and enjoy the adventure.
Reserve. Unlock. Paddle.
